Support Groups, Counseling, and Other Resources
摘要
Receiving a diagnosis of heart disease can be challenging for both patients and family members. Support groups are available that offer patients and their families information, community, and guidance while navigating difficult diagnoses. Accredited organizations, like the American Heart Association, have additional resources to help with the care and management of one’s health. These support networks can help patients set realistic treatment goals and provide tangible coping strategies. Counseling services can connect patients with easily accessible mental health resources, such as online platforms, to help manage feelings of anxiety and depression. This chapter explores various options to empower patients, helping them understand their condition and be proactive in their health journey.
