Racial disparities and gender differences are important factors that can affect both the management and outcomes of heart disease. Recognizing these differences can improve outcomes for minority groups and women. Many minority groups face systemic barriers to treatment including healthcare access, income inequality, inadequate patient education, and communication challenges. In regards to gender differences, women are often underrepresented in heart disease research and experience unique symptoms, leading to improper diagnosis and delayed care. It is important to address these differences and to dismantle healthcare barriers in patient populations to improve health literacy and maximize health equity for all.
