This chapter argues that Bosman’s stories work so as to establish the continuity of the reader’s personal everyday reality with that of the charmed story world. Consequently, his stories embody and show also in this more personal way how the charmed world of literary art, even more than not being simply an escape from life, is instead also a fundamentally significant engagement with life’s truth and so with its fundamental reality.
