Second-Hand C2C E-Commerce: What Does the Era of the Individual Seller Mean for Logistics Operators?
摘要
The development of C2C second-hand e-commerce leads to new challenges for delivery operators. Based on a literature review, the paper aims to identify scenarios linked to the development of this type of e-commerce and explores these challenges. The specificities of C2C logistics are modified by the development of C2C e-commerce platforms. Platforms lead to an increase in volume and to the introduction of B2C characteristics into the C2C logistics flow. Competition between platforms and the affordability of second-hand goods is likely to generate downward pressure on prices for delivery operators, while the increase in C2C e-commerce volume could lead to additional stress on delivery networks. Given the growth of C2C e-commerce, delivery operators are unlikely to refuse to serve this market but must find a way to address the new challenges linked with C2C second-hand e-commerce.
