Disinformation is mainly associated to social phenomena that can have profound impacts on societies. However, disinformation has also inherent economic dimensions which can have important impact on markets and economy. In particular, reflections upon ‘disinformation economics’ are crucial both in terms of ‘market for disinformation’, i.e., where disinformation is a business with its economic rationales and its value chains; and the effect of disinformation on markets, i.e. the effects of disinformation practices on consumers and producers of different products and services and ultimately on competitive dynamics and social welfare. Those two aspects are distinct yet strictly interrelated, therefore the assessment of their interplay is crucial in order to design and implement an effective regulatory framework that takes into consideration all the elements of this multifaceted phenomenon.

摘要
