Enhancing Stock Price Predictions for Ooredoo in the Middle East: The Impact of AI and Market Efficiency
摘要
This study investigates the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in predicting stock prices for Ooredoo in the Middle East. Annual data from 2018 to 2023 was collected from the financial records of Ooredoo branches listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange, and the stock exchanges in Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Iraq. AI was utilized as the independent variable, while stock price prediction and stock direction served as the dependent variables. Data analysis was conducted using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) AI model. Model efficiency was assessed using statistical metrics such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), and Mean Squared Error (MSE) R-squared. Results indicate that AI significantly enhances the accuracy of stock price predictions for Ooredoo in these Middle Eastern markets. These findings align with existing literature suggesting that these markets are inefficient [16], creating opportunities for exceptional profits due to securities not reflecting their true value. The study recommends that the analyzed markets should improve transparency and disclosure practices to enhance market efficiency. Such improvements would ensure that market prices more accurately reflect all available information, both published and unpublished.
