The Influence of Security, Ease of Use, and Usefulness on Customers’ Intention to Use Mobile Banking
摘要
The rapid development of m-banking usage underscores the need for research on customers’ intention to use m-banking. The identification of factors determining customer intention to use m-banking and the interactions among these determinants is the reason for this research. Referring to the modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study explores the interaction of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influenced by perceived security in determining the intention to use m-banking. Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) approach was employed to analyze the interaction among ease of use, perceived security, and usefulness on the intention to use m-banking. The interaction among these variables hopefuly can explain the strength of customer intention to use m-banking. Findings show that the intention to use m-banking was indeed and determined by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, perceived security is the initial trigger for the emergence of perceived ease of use and usefulness before finally determining the customer’s intention to use m-banking. Even considering the strongest influence path formed, the emergence of intention to use m-banking starts from the perceived security followed by the emergence of perceived ease of use, and finally gives rise to perceived usefulness as the main determinant of customers’ intention to use m-banking. This study emphasizes the need for staged approach in building intention to use m-banking among customers, ultimately increasing the number of m-banking users and improving digital banking service quality.
