This chapter defends the idea that democratic action is inherently inclusive and necessary for responsive action. This chapter posits that inclusion is not just a policy choice but an ethical imperative, crucial for social justice and the cultivation of active citizenship within higher educational settings. It argues that viewing diversity as a valuable resource, rather than a challenge, enhances educational experiences and engenders an enhanced understanding of the world, which in turn, sustains democratic inclusion. This chapter advances the notion of democratic inclusion by integrating it with a living African philosophy of higher education. This philosophy accentuates the significance of incorporating cultural, ethical, and philosophical tenets intrinsic to African ways of knowing, acting, and being. One of the key strategies proposed is the use of fictitious narratives, which play a significant role in expanding the concept of democratic inclusion.
