Neuroethical Considerations in Gaming Communities
摘要
This chapter explores the complex landscape of neuroethics within the gaming industry and its communities, focusing on the ethical dilemmas that arise at the intersection of gaming practices and community norms. It examines neurofeedback games, which, despite their potential to enhance cognitive abilities, raise significant ethical concerns related to privacy, consent, and the broader implications of neuro-enhancement. The chapter also addresses the role of video games in neurodiverse communities, emphasizing their dual potential to both assist and complicate the experiences of neurodivergent players. Additionally, it criticizes the growing prevalence of gambling-like elements in games, exploring the ethical risks associated with addiction and consumer exploitation. Finally, the chapter challenges the persistent social stigma surrounding gaming, confronting negative stereotypes that often overshadow the diverse and positive aspects of gaming communities. By examining these multifaceted ethical issues, the chapter seeks to provide insights into the ethical complexities of the gaming world and propose thoughtful approaches to create a more inclusive and ethically responsible gaming environment.
