Australia frequently faces disasters such as bushfires, floods, and cyclones, which impact both people and animals and affect community resilience. Animal Emergency Management (AEM) adopts an all-hazards, all-species approach within a One Welfare framework. This chapter provides an overview of AEM in Australia, exploring its integration with Emergency Management (EM) across all comprehensive phases, with a particular focus on veterinary aspects. It examines the unique challenges faced by remote Indigenous communities and discusses the role of Veterinary Social Work in disaster situations.
