Memorial for Mari-Jo P. Ruiz—A Colleague and Friend in Art and Math
摘要
I was one of the closest colleagues, collaborators, and friends of Ateneo de Manila University mathematician Mari-Jo P. Ruiz. I had the privilege of working with Mari-Jo for over 40 years. In this memorial, I will share some of the activities that we carried out together: collaborative research on graph theory and discrete geometry, organization of international conferences on graph theory and the Japan Conference on Discrete and Computational Geometry (JCDCG), promoting research exchange between Japan and the Philippines sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), educational activities to promote mathematics such as the UNESCO-sponsored exhibition of mathematical art and the writing of the book “A Day’s Adventure in Math Wonderland”.
