A cellular automaton (CA) is a collective system. It is made with a large number of anonymous cells, organized as a regular network. The cells are ordinary and have the limited computational abilities. They interact with their neighbors only and act locally. In a CA, no cell is superior, none is inferior, and there is no master-slave relationship among the cells. The effect of co-operation of its cells is the strength of a CA.
