Skilled manpower is competitive to automation in an organization. Skills management approaches developed by Eng et al. (Managing human side of technology, skills management. UTEM Press, Member of Clarivate Analytics, 2023) using qualitative approach to address the lack of tacit (skills) knowledge management. The research adopts quantitative approach to validate this previous skills management approaches developed with qualitative approach, with collection of numerical data via survey questionnaires to three levels of managerial staffs using purposive sampling method in the transformer manufacturing industry of China over longitudinal periods. The research findings have validated the sequential positive impacts of skills planning, skills development, skills transfer, skills retention on Skills Management, with participation of the survey respondents who are industrial experts (top, middle and first-line management), who are skilled manpower (white-collar and blue-collar) with tacit knowledge (soft-skills and technical skills). The existing skills management approaches by Eng et al. (Managing human side of technology, skills management. UTEM Press, Member of Clarivate Analytics, 2023) manage and retain skilled blue-collar workers in terms of technical skills. The research contributes to validate and extend the novelty of the previous developed skills management approaches, to positively manage and retain the skilled manpower (white-collar and blue-collar) in terms of tacit knowledge (soft-skills and technical skills).
