Dr. Marguerite Rogers was considered the foremost expert on air-delivered tactical weapons in the entire Department of Defense. Rogers received all three of her degrees from Rice Institute and embarked on an academic career before working for the Navy and conducting research in ordnance during World War II. She continued her work in ordnance while holding several positions in academia and spent most of her career at the Naval Ordnance Test Station, China Lake, California. Rogers contributed significantly to free-fall weapons, received many awards, and left a significant legacy as a role model and trailblazer. The Society of Women Engineers recognized her accomplishments with the 1967 Achievement Award. In 2023, the Dr. Marguerite “Peggy” Rogers Laboratory was established at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, California.
