Climate-Resilient Technologies for Smart Agriculture
摘要
Climate change challenges the global food security by exerting adverse impacts on traditional agricultural practices. To address this, introduction of sustainable agricultural technologies that improve crop production and efficiently use soil and water resources is crucial. This chapter elaborates on how climate-resilient technologies can empower smart agriculture to adapt and thrive in a changing climate. It has been found that only the innovative techniques that increase climate resilience such as precision farming, sensors, and soil conservation, technologies for precision farming and artificial intelligence in soil management, decision-support tools for sustainable agriculture practices that enhance resilience to a changing climate are analysed. Contemporary technologies change agriculture by way of enabling the sustenance of the crop productivity under limited resources and through facilitating data driven management of climatic variations, soil water conservation and agronomic and pest control. By using climate-resilient crops, capable of withstanding extremes of temperature and rainfall, farmers might be better able to offset some of the impacts of global warming. This chapter provides the significant contribution of climate smart agricultural technologies to enhanced water use efficiency. This integrative review will offer a forward thinking road map contributing to a smart agrarian sector that is robust to change and mitigation of climate change.
