The construction industry, historically relying on traditional procedures and a hands-on approach, is undergoing a fundamental transformation due to digitalisation. New technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming project management, design, and construction processes. However, this digitalisation raises important ethical concerns that must be addressed to ensure responsible and equitable practices. This is crucial as integrating emerging digital technologies involves capturing and managing massive volumes of data, generating questions about how this information is stored, shared, and used. Ethical concerns about data ownership and potential misuse or breaches necessitate strong frameworks and policies to protect stakeholder interests. Drawing from existing literature, this chapter on ethical practice in digitalisation explored the concept of ethics, ethics in construction, and ethical practices and digitalisation. The chapter touched on the impact of ethics on digitalisation, the factors influencing ethics in digitalisation and ethical concerns in relation to emerging technologies. The chapter also employed a bibliometric analysis to understand the areas of exploration on ethics in relation to the use of digital technologies. It was observed that digital technologies, including AI, machine learning, and IoT, had been evaluated for their ethical usage and influence on decision-making. The ethical use of emerging digital technologies in terms of the health and well-being of people and the ethical human-computer interactions have also been explored.
