The attainment of sustainability in the construction industry has been linked to digitalisation and emerging digital technologies. As such, it became apparent to shed light on sustainable construction (SC) practices and digital technologies that could achieve sustainability of construction projects and services. To this end, this chapter explored SC and its practices through a narrative and bibliometric review of extant literature. It further revealed the different technologies that can promote SC. It was found that while there are examples of SC applications, many of these projects are evident in developed countries, with few evident in developing countries. This lag is due to several issues, including local green certification, regulations and green experts, lack of interest, poor awareness and knowledge, misconception of SC, and absence of incentives to adopt SC. It was further found that practices such as utilising green technologies and materials, energy-efficient designs, water conservation, circular economy, nature-based solutions, biomimicry, ecological economics, lean construction, value management, smart technologies, and modular construction are essential for SC. When digital technologies are implemented correctly, SC practices can lead to CO2 reduction, efficient energy consumption, a transparent and reliable supply chain, reduced wastage, effective monitoring and control, and effective decision-making. In the end, relevant technologies like Building information Modelling, 3D printing, sensors, drones, automation, robotics, big data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital twins, cloud computing, and blockchain were revealed as crucial technologies for driving SC.
