Introduction
摘要
This introductory chapter introduces briefly the key premise of this book, which is that there are a number of affective and aesthetics resonances between the work of writers Philip K Dick and Thomas Pynchon, and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. I contend that these resonances are an under-researched aspect of the present interest in conspiracy theorizing in the United States. This book takes a familiarity with these key figures as a point of departure, but for those whose research does not extend to these paranoid/conspiratorial works, background and key examples are provided on each. Furthermore, this chapter discusses how it the book is meant to be read. I discuss decision to focus on X instead of Y, the purview of the project, and so forth. This chapter concludes by defining the ways in which this is meant to be approached, and suggests possibilities for further research.
