Value Recovery From Flue Dust Leaching Residue

A key focus within the industry is the development of hydrometallurgical processes to recover valuable metalsMetal from miningMining residues and stabilize harmful elementsElements. EcoMetalesEcoMetales has pioneered an environmentally friendly solution for arsenicArsenic treatment. More recently, we've developed a novel process to recover germanium and silverSilver from miningMining residues through a series of leachingLeaching steps. Our innovative approach involves the treatment of flue dust to recover copperCopper and stabilize arsenicArsenic as scoroditeScorodite. The resulting leached residue, known as “borras,” contains valuable metalsMetal including copperCopper, lead, germanium, and silverSilver. Through a series of acidic and alkaline leachingLeaching steps, we: recover copperCopper and ferricFerric sulfateSulfate which are used in our conventional scoroditeScorodite production process; produce a lead concentrateConcentrate which meets technical quality standards; recover germanium with a dedicated process; and obtain a silverSilver concentrateConcentrate which contains over 10% silverSilver, with an overall recovery rateRecovery Rates exceeding 80%. The final residue, primarily composed of aluminosilicates, can be safely disposed of in an authorized landfill. Our process has been successfully demonstrated at laboratory, bench, and pilot scales. Advanced techniques like SEMScanning Electronic Microscope (SEM), XRD, and QEMSCAN have been employed to analyze the various fractions and products obtained. In our view, by treating miningMining residues and recovering valuable metalsMetal, we minimize waste generation and contribute to a more sustainable miningSustainable mining industry.
