Using Bio-Based Frothers in Froth Flotation to Improve Renewable Carbon Index
摘要
With a large focus recently on growing ESG initiatives, there is a large opportunity for companies to demonstrate “environmentally friendliness” and “sustainable supplySupply.” Integrity MiningMining and Industrial (IMI) bases the carbonCarbon signature of its biopolymer-based products on its renewable carbonRenewable carbon index (RCI). RCI readily classifies the origin of carbonCarbon in a molecule, i.e., modern vegetative sources or extracted petroleum derivatives. Specifically, it measures the number of carbonsCarbon derived from renewable sources compared to the total number of carbonsCarbon in the product. IMI has developed a bio-basedBio-based frotherFrothers, TegraFroth that can be used to replace leading synthetics to meet sustainabilitySustainability and environmental regulations. Based on preliminary testing, TegraFroth was evaluated and compared to commodity frothersFrothers used in a copperCopper mineMine, a potash mineMine, and a goldGold mineMine—and in all three cases had no negative effect on the respective mineral recoveryRecovery or gradeGrade when compared to the blank that was evaluated using a standard industry frotherFrothers. The focus of this presentation will be to discuss the plant trialPlant Trial results of our TegraFroth as compared to alcohol-based furthers, propylene glycolGlycol, and other glycolGlycol ethers in a copperCopper concentratorConcentrator in the US, and a potash processingProcessing plant in Canada.
