Arsenic in Copper Refining and Its Influence on Refractory Lining
摘要
The present work discusses the behavior of arsenicArsenic in copperCopper refiningRefining processes. The most important corrosionCorrosion mechanisms are identified based on post-mortem analysisAnalysis of refractoryRefractories bricks in copperCopper furnacesFurnace. Samples of magnesia-chromiteMagnesia-chrome materials were taken from the gas zone and the slagSlag zone of aggregates for fire refiningRefining of copperCopper. In devices from which samples were taken for testing after the end of the campaign, the process allows the removal of arsenicArsenic from the liquid metalMetal. Increasing the content of arsenicArsenic in copper concentratesCopper concentrate changes the refiningRefining process, which is significant for the wear profile of the refractoryRefractories lining. It should be noted that the increase in the arsenicArsenic content translates into the wear of the lining in two ways: direct—through arsenic oxidesArsenic oxide, which is observed mainly in the gas zone and flue gas exhaust, and indirect—where the main cause of corrosionCorrosion of refractory materialsRefractory material are process additivesAdditives used to remove arsenicArsenic from the metalMetal.
