Florence Copper: Creating 360 Degrees of Value Through Sustainable Copper Mining
摘要
Unlike conventional miningMining, Florence CopperCopper uses ISCR technologyTechnology—a low-impact method of copper extractionCopper extraction with significant environmental advantages. The process eliminates the need for open-pit or underground excavation, waste rock piles and tailings storage facilities. By eliminating the need for blasting, hauling and crushingCrushing massive volumes of mineralized and non-mineralized material, Florence CopperCopper is forecast to consume 78% less water and 65% less energy per unit of production compared to traditional open-pit copperCopper mines in ArizonaArizona. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissionsEmissions at Florence CopperCopper will also be 75% lower than conventional open-pit mines in ArizonaArizona per pound of copperCopper produced. The project is expected to be the lowest GHG and energy intensive copperCopper producer in North America, supporting the global transition to a low-carbonCarbon economy with responsibly sourced copperCopper. Once operational, Florence CopperCopper’s ISCR wellfield and SX/EW processingProcessing plant will have an annual production capacity of 85 million pounds of LME GradeGrade A copperCopper per year for 22 years, generating significant economic benefits for Florence, Pinal County and the State of ArizonaArizona. These include $4.3 billion in economic activity and nearly 820 total jobs (direct, indirect and induced) over the project life.
