Open Ocean Aquaculture Vessels: An Emerging Frontier for Sustainable Fish Production that Can Meet Sea Food Demand in the State of Qatar
摘要
This paper explores the potential of open ocean aquaculture as a sustainable solution to meet the growing demand for seafood in Qatar. The study analyses the current state of aquaculture in Qatar, the challenges, opportunities presented by offshore farming, and the technological and regulatory frameworks necessary for its successful implementation. Findings suggest that open ocean aquaculture could significantly contribute to Qatar’s food security and economic diversification goals while minimizing environmental impacts associated with traditional coastal aquaculture.
