摘要

Research at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on the Air-Breathing Ion Engine (ABIE) aims to extend satellite operational duration in very-low Earth orbit (VLEO). This study evaluates the impact of micro-structured surfaces on the intake performance using Hypersonic Rarefied Wind Tunnel (HRWT) experiments and computational analyses. We have developed numerical schemes for micro-structured surfaces in DSMC, and our numerical results were consistent with experimental results in HRWT.
