This study proposes a multi-agent system (MAS) to collect and sort recyclable household waste. Previous research contributions have proposed solutions addressing various aspects of waste management. However, these solutions do not offer a holistic and fully autonomous approach. In this research, we advocate for a richer and versatile solution. Consider a multi-storey building, where waste is collected from each floor and gathered in a single place; we propose a MAS employing algorithms to sort the recyclable waste. First, we arrange refuse items in a grid and use the Firefly optimisation algorithm to cluster the closest items for sorting. Next, we propose a multi-armed bandits algorithm to select a bin where to drop each item. We present the algorithms, the coordination among the intelligent agents and the results of our experiments.

摘要
