Multifocality is still a desirable wish for patients as well as for cataract surgeons. There are different ways to achieve multifocality; however, there is not, still, a perfect solution. Refractive lenses, diffractive lenses, and combined lenses are in wide use these days, and in recent years, extended depth of focus (EDOF) lenses have entered the market as well. We describe the existing multifocal solutions that are in use today; however, as there is a constant advancement in designing and producing multifocal intraocular lenses, one should expect that we are merely on our way and maybe that in a few years ahead we will find a perfect solution in accommodative lenses.
