Robot Assisted Radical Prostatectomy

Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) has revolutionized the surgical management of localized prostate cancer, offering enhanced precision, dexterity, and minimally invasive benefits compared to conventional approaches. This chapter examines the technical aspects, patient selection, and procedural advancements in RARP, including nerve-sparing techniques, pelvic anatomy considerations, vesicourethral anastomosis, and lymph node dissection. The role of robotic platforms in optimizing surgical ergonomics, improving visualization, and reducing perioperative morbidity is discussed, along with functional recovery outcomes, oncologic efficacy, and complication management. Comparative analysis of RARP versus open and laparoscopic techniques, alongside emerging trends in robotic urologic surgery, provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the evolving landscape of radical prostatectomy.
