This paper describes the methodology of the onboarding model implemented in the School of Industrial Engineering (SIE) of Badajoz, University of Extremadura (UEx), so that it can be applied in other Higher Education centres and combat together the current decrease in demand in the branches of engineering, at national level (Spain). The planning of the actions of the onboarding model focuses on activities that are focused on creating an environment in which the student feels welcome and willing to solve their doubts about the engineering profession. These actions are carried out jointly by the different profiles of the SIE (students, teachers, research staff, etc.), the UEx dissemination service and companies in the region, to attract and retain talent in the SIE. The onboarding model assesses the intention of students to study engineering before and after carrying out the programmed activities. Thus, in the last two years, the actions carried out in the model have managed to increase enrolments in the SIE by more than half, thus breaking the record for new admissions in the last 15 years.

摘要
