The Global South includes Central Asian countries along the historic Silk Road. With its global trade routes crossing the landscape in antiquity, Uzbekistan is leading the way as an emerging economy in the Global South by meeting the demands of transformational change. If meaningful workforce development policies can inform and realign national economic strategies, the entrepreneur at the ground level is in a better position to create employment opportunities for themselves and others in their local communities. With more individuals operating as local entrepreneurs, a positive synergy is possible creating conditions in which Uzbekistan serves as an economic growth pole center, promoting even more employment opportunities and increased economic growth, attracting international industrial investment, stimulating growth outward to surrounding Central Asian economies. Sustainable economic development policies should integrate practical workforce development programs centered on technical and industrial career training. With its rich history in learning and discovery, Uzbekistan can leverage its rich cultural heritage along the modern-day Silk Road by funding workforce development programs through a robust strategy of workforce development, technical training along with contemporary economic policies and technological advancements on a global scale. Identifying immediate needs in training and student placement within the business and industrial sectors provides a unique framework for vocational training that can close gaps with a skilled and competent workforce. The momentum Uzbekistan would create may serve as a model for innovative and novel approaches contributing to the existing literature on Central Asian economies.
