Threads of Peace: A Journey of Hope and Struggle
摘要
This essay explores the personal journey of grappling with peace and conflict through relationships, memory, and moral imagination. Specifically, my relationships, friendships, and conversations with people directly affected by wars and intergenerational war memories have challenged my capacity to envision peace. From hearing my grandmother's wartime memories, to forging meaningful conversations with my Korean best friend, to witnessing the lasting scars of war through my partner’s story and visit to his home, each relationship expands my understanding while exposing my limitations. Though moments of despair and doubt arise, relationships and interactions became a reminder of the necessity to continue engaging with peacebuilding—despite uncertainty. By sharing the lessons that have shaped me, I hope to encourage readers to reflect on their own peacebuilding journeys, embracing the difficult but essential process of envisioning a world beyond cycles of violence.
