However, use of Planning Interventions has on occasion delivered substantive benefits in terms of removing Crime Opportunity (see Sect. 2.3). This chapter consists of six sections. The first discusses the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). And the second, Safer Places: the Planning System and Crime Prevention. Design and Access Statements are described in the third section, followed by Supplementary Planning Guidance. Recurrent themes relating to crime and disorder in Planning Appeal Judgements are then examined. Before the chapter concludes by examining the DOCO's role when appearing before planning hearings, public inquiries, inquests, etc.
