Climate change is a global issue posing various implications for humans and the environment. Food securityFood security is one of the significant factors that need to be discussed in relation to climate changeClimate change. Changing climate brings many impacts, such as rising sea levels, saltwater intrusions, coastal erosion, coastal flooding, and climate events, that affect food securityFood security. Hence, this chapter focuses on climate food-resilient systems in Fiji and the strategies that have been adopted to deal with improving food securityFood security. Fiji, being a SIDS, is vulnerable to the impacts of climate changeClimate change, causing depletion of local produce. This results in the country becoming more reliant on imported foods, leading to various health-related problems, thus reducing the life expectancyLife expectancy rate overall. The chapter also elaborates on how improving climate-resilient food systems can help achieve various SDGS, such as 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, and 13. Nature-based solutions (NbS), community-based approaches, ecosystem-based solutions, and sustainable agricultural practices are just some of the ways Fiji is working to improve the food system, supported by the policies of the Fiji Government. The chapter findings suggested that the use of available land increases food production and reduces dependence on imported products.
