The article considers the most probable causes of fire hazards in the tank farms of oil storage companies. It analyzes the features of combustible medium and the operational characteristics of the technological processes of these facilities. Based on the results of the analysis, the paper suggests approaches for reducing fire hazard risks at an oil pumping station. Mathematical calculations justified the need to equip the breathing valve with a fire extinguishing device. Digitalization of safety monitoring systems puts forth new approaches to safety provision. The second technical solution is to use an information and software package to control parameters in the automatic mode, which will allow for processing, visualizing and transmitting information about the concentration of explosive mixtures in oil storage systems. The function of the proposed system is to process and transfer a large data bulk for decision-making to provide the safety of the technological process.
