Beyond Surviving: On Black Motherscholars Thriving in Wellness
摘要
Black mother scholars experience a multitude of challenges in their efforts to successfully integrate the needs and demands of their dynamic lives. From unsupportive workplaces to dual oppression, feelings of isolation to being an on-demand caregiver, their journeys are complex and often untold. Grounded in Black Feminist Thought, the authors share a collaborative autoethnography on their nuanced realities as Black women faculty, practitioners, and mothers. Drawing on the IS-Wel model, they not only illuminate their individual narratives of survival in the pursuit of wellness, belonging, and leading, but also reimagine a world where they and their sistren thrive.
