The doctor who arms himself in his profession with curiosity and interest in others must not fear the complexity of his task; he must love it. This is a complexity that has always been present in the disease of patients, but today is revealed more than ever by sophisticated magnifying glasses, engraved by robotic hands, enumerated and codified by digital folders. It is a complexity veiled by an entropy of information to which no artificial intelligence other than the mind of doctors, nurses, and health professionals in teamwork can bring order. Indeed, he complexity of the individual phenotype requires a personalized approach that must pair the most advanced scientific knowledge and the most effective diagnostic and therapeutic tools with the empathy that should characterize the patient-doctor/care provider mutual relationships. Primary care and the hospital should be dedicated to the management of biological disease while keeping humanity on both sides of the therapeutic alliance. Today’s challenge is to get an early diagnosis and an appropriate treatment by putting together -omics and the Hippocratic approach. Only in this way, we will align classical medical reasoning with artificial intelligence algorithms in a way that does not leave the patient alone.
