This chapter analyzes two major international multicenter studies that have established benchmark outcomes for open pancreatoduodenectomy (PD). It provides insights into the practical application of these benchmark values to evaluate and compare the open surgical approach with innovative minimally invasive techniques. By assessing these outcomes, this tool allows to highlight the differences in surgical performance, patient recovery, and overall success rates between traditional open methods and modern minimally invasive approaches.
