The Cognitive Foundations of the History of Diagrams
摘要
This volume analyzes the history of diagrams, from their prehistoric precursors to computer-generated graphics, with the help of theories from the cognitive sciences. The second chapter of the book consists of six sections that present perspectives from the cognitive sciences to help us understand diagrams and spatial cognition. Together, the sections in Chap. 2 function as a theoretical foundation for the chronological and thematic historical analysis in Chaps. 3 – 9 , and for the general conclusions in Chap. 10 .
