John Tyndall[aut]Tyndall, John (1820-1889) was a major transitional figure in the History of Heat. One of his areas of expertise was Radiant HeatRadiant heat (Infrared Radiation). He carried out thousands of experiments on all forms of matter subjected to infrared radiation. Selections from two of his monographs are discussed in detail: Contributions to Molecular Physics in the Domain of Radiant Heat (1873) and Heat: A Mode of Motion (1900). Much of his apparatus constructed at the Royal Institution in London is still intact. He was a worthy successor to Michael Faraday[aut]Faraday, Michael (1791-1867).
