Ludwig Boltzmann was one of the greatest classical physicists, along with James Clerk Maxwell[aut]Maxwell, James Clerk (1831-1879) (Chap. 14 ) and Lord Rayleigh. He adopted the full dynamic perspective with regard to the material world, and developed, along with J. Willard Gibbs[aut]Gibbs, Josiah Willard (1839-1903) (Chap. 13 ), the full theory of Statistical Thermodynamics. The statistical perspective allowed Boltzmann to see that it was the distributions of energy that allowed an understanding of entropyEntropy. The Lectures on Gas Theory and Lectures on Natural Philosophy complete the classical development of the structure and dynamics of material media.

摘要
