Josiah Willard Gibbs: The Complete Theory of Thermodynamics
摘要
J. Willard Gibbs[aut]Gibbs, Josiah Willard (1839-1903) completed the Thermodynamic analysis of systems composed of multiple components and phases. His important concept of the chemical potentialChemical potential is essential for understanding both complex phase diagramsPhase diagrams and chemical reactions. This chapter presents his work in historical context and is based entirely on the original papers. I have read them in my own copy of The Collected Works of J. Willard Gibbs (1948). They represent the completion of the nineteenth century development of Thermodynamics.
