This paper explores the changes that the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has brought unto the structure of the financial sector, especially in the unorganized sector of India. The research focuses on the influence that UPIs have to offer in terms of credit opportunities and financial liberalization. Hypotheses related to important mediating and moderating characteristics like trusts, frequency and satisfaction level were tested. To make the analysis we have employed Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) tool using SMARTPLS to identify the linkages between these variables and their impact on financial inclusion. The study provides evidence that the effects of UPI extension were positive for tackling the issues of financial and credit exclusion, for the use frequency and satisfaction were to act as mediators. Gender, Age, Marital Status, Education level and Occupation influence these relations depending on the type of user experience as defined by the Demographic variables and Trust. The study also presents an array of policy implications on digital financial transactions and the best way to approach them.
