In today’s world, people are more aware of the sustainability initiatives of businesses and expect firms to remain more socially and environmentally sustainable. Environmental and social sustainability are key concepts for industries like banking, hotels, transportation etc. In this study, we analyze the impact of perceived environmental and social sustainability on passenger loyalty in sustainable transportation specifically the Metro Rail Transport system in Kerala. This study advances the theoretical framework by showing how environmental and social aspects of sustainability are interrelated in promoting passenger loyalty. Multiple linear regression method was used to test the effect of environmental and social sustainability on passenger loyalty. The questionnaire was filled out by 210 commuters of the Kochi metro. The findings suggested that environmental and social sustainability initiatives substantially affect passenger loyalty and social sustainability initiatives have a greater impact on passenger loyalty than environmental sustainability initiatives. Insights regarding the significance of sustainability for the transportation sector in fostering positive consumer perceptions are anticipated from the results.
