Evaluating Customer Attitudes Towards the Demand for Generic Medicines in Bengaluru Under the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Initiative

The study main aim is to find the gap between supply & demand, as well as the availability of adequate centres, within the framework of Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana in Bengaluru. The study focuses specifically on the Bengaluru region, which is a bustling urban centre with a significant population. The objective is to assess the current state of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana implementation in Bengaluru, specifically in terms of bridging the gap between the supply of generic medicines and the demand for them. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive analysis will be conducted to evaluate the supply-demand dynamics of generic medicines in Bengaluru. This will involve studying the customer’s perception for generic medicine regarding their awareness, accessibility, geographical range and range of generic medicines through the Janaushadhi centres. Various factors contributing to the supply-demand gap, such as awareness, accessibility, geographical range and range of generic medicines will be examined in detail. Additionally, the research will assess the adequacy of the existing Janaushadhi centres in Bengaluru. This evaluation will provide insights into the effectiveness of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana in meeting the healthcare needs of the population in Bengaluru. The study was consist majorly primary data and some secondary data. Surveys and interviews with key stakeholders, including officials from the “Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI)”, centre managers, and healthcare professionals was the primary source of data for the study. Secondary data from reports, government publications, and relevant literature will also be utilized to support the result. The analysis of the research work has contributed to a deeper thought of the demand of generic medicines based on their awareness, accessibility, geographical range and range of generic medicines and the availability of adequate Janaushadhi centres in Bengaluru. The insights gained from the study can be utilized by policymakers, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders to address the existing gaps and improve the effectiveness of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana in providing affordable and quality medicines to the people of Bengaluru.
