Analysis on Impact of Behavioural Disposition on Portfolio Investment Decisions of Individual Investors in Bangalore Urban

In the last two decades, the behavioural theorising of understanding factors which play an important role in influencing the decision-making skills of individual investors has been on the rise. It’s important to follow up with the studies to capture the dynamic nature of investor behaviour truly. Awareness about factors subconsciously influencing investment decision-making will be beneficial for investors and will also help foster a balanced market space. This study tries to understand the complex interplay between socio-demographic and psychological factors which has a major impact on investment behaviours of clients. Data was collected from 100 respondents residing in Bangalore urban. Analysis was conducted using different statistical tools. Findings reveal that psychological biases and factors have a stronger influence on individual investors’ decision-making skills than those of socio-demographic factors. The complex interplay of socio-demographic factors might play a role in shaping how the psychological factors might be experienced by each individual differently. Future directions for further studies are also discussed.
