摘要
Business Longevity is a defining attribute of Family businesses. But the factors that contributing to it is rather complex and mystifying. Though quantitative research in this arena is more, the insights gained are much lesser and there is a serious dearth of qualitative studies especially in the Indian context. The present study is thus designed with a qualitative design to understand about the factors that contribute family business longevity. To serve this objective, family businesses operating for more than 20 years in the Textile Industry were selected and 17 semi structured interviews were conducted. The data then was subjected to Thematic Analysis using MAXQDA to derive the themes and dimensions. The study identified three major overarching dimensions namely motivators, family Business culture and enduring business strategies as vital to the business longevity of these firms. The study also explains the interplay between these dimensions that explain the process through which longevity is achieved.
