The research project aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the abilities of accounting graduates and the expectations of their employers from a global perspective. For data collection, a systematic review guideline known as the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) statement was employed. Research studies from 2007 to April 2023 were included, and a total of 53 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) database were analyzed. The results indicate that numerous countries have contributed to this research over the years. One of the main issues identified in the review is the mismatch between the competencies of university accounting graduates and the needs of employers, which poses significant challenges for competency development and graduate employment. Additionally, the findings suggest that academic institutions are keen on leveraging technology to enhance the skill acquisition of graduates to improve their employability.
