This autoethnographic account chronicles my journey as a Zambian-born and diaspora science educator, navigating the crossroads between the Zambian sociocultural perspectives and formal science education. Through a personal narrative, I explore the tensions and triumphs of finding a home (sense of belonging) in science education, highlighting the Zambian social cultural practices and their relationship with science, crossroads I encountered, and how I navigated them. I draw on literature from critical pedagogy, culturally relevant teaching, and social justice to contextualize my story to emphasize the need for inclusive and culturally relevant science education. By sharing this personal narrative, I hope to inspire both upcoming and veteran diaspora science educators and researchers to critically examine how they can leverage their social cultural backgrounds to foster a meaningful work environment and find a home in science education.
