Music-making, using digital technologies, has a significant presence in both open access and targeted youth work programmes. Through youth work practice, music production can offer opportunities for young people’s identity development (Baker & Homan, 2007), through both social and symbolic capital (Howard, 2022) and the formation of musical communities (Burnard & Dragovic, 2015). This chapter explores music production as a form of youth work, where young people are encouraged to emerge from their bedrooms to the booth.
