The Digital twin (DT) technology has shifted the manufacturing industry worldwide. This paper explores the extent of DT applications in Saudi manufacturing companies and aims to discover various obstacles that can limit its application. A questionnaire was distributed to collect data from various Saudi manufacturing companies, including oil, basic materials, and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. The paper concludes with the results, most notably that DT have recently begun to be used to a limited extent in manufacturing companies in Saudi Arabia despite the presence of technical competencies in those companies. In addition, the most influential factors regarded as a cause or obstacle in the implementation of DTs were organizational and procedural causes.
