Professor Vasiliki Georgiadou, a Political Science professor in the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University and director of the Center for Political Research (ΕΚΚΕ), discusses the critical double elections of 2012. This shift reshaped the political map of Greece, marking the collapse of bipartisanship and the modus vivendi that had defined the Metapolitefsi era. Preceding events include the George Papandreou government of 2009 and its fall, the outbreak of the sovereign debt crisis, the memoranda, the “Indignados” movement in Syntagma Square, the Papademos technocratic government, and the sudden rise of Golden Dawn on the political scene. It was a dense, turbulent political period during which everything changed, leaving behind a fundamentally altered political landscape.
